Not all of us are fortunate to be born with an infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy and a passion for what we do. Sally has all that and more. She is one of Australia’s most highly respected and trusted creative intermediaries, and has been at the forefront of the Australian creative industry for over 20 years.
Sally graduated from RMIT with a degree in photography in the late 1980s. After a brief stint working in commercial photography in Australia she headed off to London. There she worked in the world of television production and theatre before heading home to Melbourne.
It was the founding of The Flash Place in 1994 that really marked the beginning of Sally’s unwavering commitment to photography, photographers and creatives. At The Flash Place she represented commercial photographers, actively connecting them with the industry. Sally joined a creative consultancy in 1998 where she managed the careers of photographers and creatives including art directors, designers, copywriters and illustrators.
In 2002 Sally launched out on her own again and formed sallybrownbill.com connecting photographers, creatives and industry. In 2013 she founded The Brownbill Effect, a directory aimed at connecting photographers and creatives with business. In 2016 Sally launched TBE Jobs, a full-time recruitment hub spanning the design, advertising, corporate, communications and photography space.
Sally is at the forefront of the Australian photographic and creative industry, promoting and shaping the futures of aspiring and professional photographers and creatives, by providing career leadership and advice through her work as a lecturer, mentor, judge and portfolio consultant.
